Arts, Media & Entertainment

Do not be fooled. `If good people keep company with bad people, the good people will become bad too.  Wake up! Do what is right. Stop doing wrong things.” 1 Cor 15:22-34a (WE)

“The stories about the way you are living in obedience to God have traveled to all the churches. So celebrate your faithfulness to God that is being displayed in your lives—seek wisdom about the good life, and remain innocent when it comes to evil.” Romans 16:19 (VOICE)

From John Stonestreet, Breakpoint: The New Fall Season: Should We Tune In:  10-1-18: “As Neal Postman said three decades ago, the West is at risk of amusing ourselves to death.”

From Light Up the City, 10 Days of Prayer, Government, What is God’s Heart for your city? Day 9,January 9, 2018, What is God’s Heart for the Media and Arts?  :  Pray today that honesty, truth and integrity will be found in our local and national media.

  • That the truth would be communicated in love. 2 Timothy 2:25 “Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth”.
  • That the media would fairly represent the truth. Proverbs 18:17 “In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right, until someone comes forward and cross-examines.”
  • Against an outrage culture fueled by media and the arts.
  • That people would find a love of truth, and discern against false witness and fabrication.

Pray for believing artists, musicians, painters, actors, writers, authors, performers- that they will use their talents to further reveal and reflect the wonders of God.

Pray for ALL artists- that their creation will draw them closer to the Creator. Pray for specific artists in your community who bring excellence to the community.

Pray for specific contributors to media (bloggers you follow; anchors, DJs, whom you admire)- that they will use their platforms to lift up rather than tear down.

The first is the ongoing and intensifying conflict between LGBT rights and religious freedom, especially here in the U. S. Even as I write this, U.S. Senator Mike Lee is holding up the re-nomination of Chai Feldblum to head the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Lee’s reason is simple: Feldblum has been crystal clear that, in her mind, there’s not a single scenario where religious freedom should prevail over LGBT rights

…bioethics. The recent news out of China about a researcher using CRISPR gene-editing to genetically modify embryos prior to implantation has raised alarms, although, as I recently told you, no one should be surprised. Human beings find the temptation to “play god” irresistible.

And we’re currently on a new chapter in the onward march of our “Culture of Death.” I’m talking about physician-assisted suicide, which is now legal in seven states and the District of Columbia. Currently, there’s a campaign to add Maine to that list.

The beginning of a New Year is a great time to clarify in our minds that ultimately we belong to a “Who” not a “what.”

Praise and prayer for all members of government who are truly disciples of  Christ/Yeshua. May they be a model and inspiration to those around them. May they be protected from temptations that come with the power of their positions. May they seek God’s/YeHoVaH’s guidance daily in all things. May they be filled with the fruit of the Spirit and reflect this in all their actions, encouraging others to make godly decisions.  Pray that they will demonstrate unity among themselves to enhance the light they bring to government and reflect the desires expressed by Christ/Yeshua in John 17:20-21 (NIV):  “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

Pray that those government leaders who do not know Christ/Yeshua will have at least one person on their staff or in their close circle of friends/family who know Him, to be light and bring His wisdom and guidance to their work.

Pray for our legislative representatives to make sound and godly decisions regarding children and families.    Pray daily that the Father will give wisdom and guidance to all elected officials in all their decision making. Pray they will be moved to protect our citizens and families by their actions and that they will desire His righteousness.

Pray for God’s/YeHoVaH’s power to unify families, workplaces, communities, and cities in America. By Your Spirit, Father God/YeHoVaH, lead us to forgiveness, reconciliation, healing, and unity.

Pray for people of all ethnicities and races in America to come together as one, living in peace and unity together. Pray that God/YeHoVah gives us the courage to stand against all racial and ethnic division, denouncing it as evil and sinful.

Pray for the security of our nation. Ask our heavenly Father to preserve the United States of America from the forces of evil that are invading our culture, threatening our lives and our future. Pray that He guard all persons in public and private settings from anyone or anything that desires to harm them or take their lives.

Pray for the protection of all our law enforcement officers, fire fighters and elected officials. Please pray that He will keep them from harm, safely in His hands. Praise all those who work to protect us each day, let them be strong.

From IFA, Appealing for our Courts: “Pray for our nation’s judicial system to restore it’s foundations to what it was originally built on—the law of nature and…God(YeHoVaH).

Pray for those working together through the Faith-Based Emergency Preparedness community.. May we all take the steps that are advised so that there is not unnecessary loss of life, to minimize the suffering when this happens.

Pray for the work of the Family Policy Institute of Washington (FPIW). https://www.fpiw.org.  Pray for the new Director  Mark Miloscia and his staff as they seek this wisdom and to find partners in their efforts. Pray for the Olympia 301 training day tomorrow, 1-10, in Olympia.  May those who attend take away information that will help them to effectively communicate with our elected officials.

Pray for our communities to work together to meet the needs of the growing number of homeless in Clallam and Jefferson Counties.

Pray for relief from the factors leading to the increasing rate of suicide on the Peninsula – help for those who are hurting to the point that they consider  suicide, and help for families left behind after a suicide occurs.

Praise God for the volunteer spirit in our community, and the good works being done.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to heal wounded hearts and inspire more selflessness.

Church

“So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:22-25 (MESSAGE)

Pray for pastors meeting together as they identify, address and pray for issues concerning our community and support each other in their work and Christian growth on the first and third Thursday of every month in Sequim and the second and fourth Thursday of the month in Port Angeles.  Pray that other local leaders will be encouraged to join the group. Pray that all leaders will see the need to band together as there is power in prayer.  Our Father calls us to be One as He and the Son are One. John 10:30:  “I and the Father are one.”, John 17:22 (VOICE): “All the glory You have given to Me, I pass on to them. May that glory unify them and make them one as We are one,…”

“We have cause to celebrate because the grace of God has appeared, offering the gift of salvation to all people. Grace arrives with its own instruction: run away from anything that leads us away from God; abandon the lusts and passions of this world; live life now in this age with awareness and self-control, doing the right thing and keeping yourselves holy. ”  Titus 2:11-12 (VOICE)

Business

“Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.” Deut 8:18 (NLT)

Prayer request from a local business owner:  As a business owner I am in the process of evaluating my year; judging it by the world’s standards. My prayer for my business and all Christian businesses on the peninsula is to look at and evaluate our businesses based on God’s standards. The invisible:

· The miracles of God’s intervention in circumstances

·  Divine appointments with customers and vendors

·  An increased awareness in the lives of people we have met throughout the year

· The number of spiritual conversations held

·  A greater peace than ever before in their business.

As business owners look to the New Year, with strategic plans and goal setting I pray the focus will be on opportunities to share our time, energy and money for the sake of the lost; those within our sphere of influence.

Pray for each business to have at least one Christian owner or employee to bring salt and light to that workplace, that all businesses may follow the leading of our Lord.

Pray for a spirit of integrity among our business community that there may be economic prosperity.

Pray for all new businesses in our communities. Pray that each would prosper to improve the economy of our county. Pray that the owners and employees will seek wisdom and guidance from God/YeHoVaH to be successful.

Pray for Christian Business Owners that their words and deeds would point customers, employees, vendors and non-Christian business owners to Christ. These business owners would like prayer for generosity within our community, less separation between business and God, making God the center of their business.  They would also like to have a Godly view of success and failure

Pray for non-Christian Business Owners to be drawn to Jesus by those in their sphere of influence.

Healthcare

A healthy spirit conquers adversity, but what can you do when the spirit is crushed?”  Proverbs 18:14 (MESSAGE)

Pray for sustainability in the healthcare resources here and throughout rural America. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has plans to move forward with a drastic 60% cut in reimbursements to “off-site” hospital out-patient departments, resulting in losses that will be devastating to the activities and future expansion plans of Olympic Medical Center (OMC), both in terms of physical plant and physician/health care provider staffing. Pray for guidance from  God/YeHoVaH so that the community can pull together to find solutions to this problem.  Pray for justice as OMC joins with other facilities in a law suit seeking reversal of this ruling.

Pray for the providers new to Olympic medical Center in 2018:  Sara Steffan, PA-C, Orthopedics; Usha Reddi , MD, Sleep Medicine; Brittany Yahraus, PA-C, Orthopedics; Robert “Brady” Barnes, PA-C, Family Medicine; Militza “Mimi” Ausmanas, MD, Family Medicine; Jurate Duffy, MD, Hospitalist; Sandrea Relyea, PA-C, Pediatrics; Thomas Michels, MD, Family Medicine; Minji Kim, MD, Neurology; Robin Sterin, PA-C, Orthopedics; David Murphy, MD, Pulmonary Medicine, Paul Larsen, PA-C, Family Medicine; Jonathon Freezer, MD, Pediatrics; Sara Squyres, PA-C, Urology; Victor Rostapshov, MD, Medical Oncology.

Pray that the people of our communities will be inspired to safeguard their health. Give everyone the ability to understand that we must care for our bodily  temples by filling ourselves with food that nourishes our bodies and keeping ourselves physically and emotionally fit.

Pray for all those who work in and support the local free clinics and the people whom they serve:  Volunteer in Medicine Clinic in PA and Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic in Sequim.
